I've been a bad blogger.
In recent news Pi Delta Chi is chapter of the year!! We also won highest sorority GPA, runners up at greek week and I won greek goddess!!
Pi Delta Chi rocks!

Tomorrow is our sister retreat. I had lots of fun last year at it so I hope this year will be just as fin. Hopefully they do something fun for us seniors. We shall see!

I'd also like to congratulate our new E-board and all the other girls who took on new positions within the sorority. Next year should be full of excitement. Toni will be taking over blogging for me since I'm graduating. She currently updates our website so she's already a pro at this kind of stuff.

Alright, I have to go play Boggle with my Mom. I went home for the weekend for the Tulip Fest. I promise to update again soon!!

Advisor

Pi Chi has gotten a new advisor, Dr. Renee Walker. She is an anthropology professor and an awesome person! Some of the sisters have taken classes with her in the past.
Thank you Dr. Walker for becoming Pi Chi's new advisor.

50th anniversary

Just finished our 50th anniversary alumni weekend. It was awesome!! Pi Chi has been going strong for 50 years and it was amazing to see the turn out of sisters. During our bbq we had one sister show up who pledged during the 60's. A lot of the sisters from our largest pledge class Catch 22 showed up.
As you can see we painted the wall and it's still up a couple days later!! A lot of the sisters helped but I want to especially thank AQ. She did all the fancy writing and a lot of the details!
In the next week I will continue to post more photos from alumni weekend!

In other news I had my interview for Greek Goddess on Friday and I think it went well. The results will be announced on Wednesday at the Greek Banquet. That's another event I really like because everyone in greek life gets dressed up and gets awards for scholarship, community service, among other things.

Ok, time to go catch up on all my homework!!

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post.
Thursday night was the AOD dance. I will be honest in saying it wasn't an event for me. I'm not a real dancer. I always notice the divide between the sororities, as well. It bothers me because I see no reason why we all can't get along. I have a good friend in Sigma Delta Tau and she has gotten a lot of grief for being so close to me. It bums me out. :(
On a happier and much sexier note, the sorority will be fundraising again. We are going to be having a sex toy party! All you ladies should come and get some stuff. They sell everything from perfume to dildos! (I can't believe I am typing dildo on a blog.) We will be also selling Avon again.
We're also gearing up for our breast cancer walk and Relay for Life. So be on the look out for us!

I'm going to go make some dinner and enjoy the rest of what has become a cold weekend!

The bloggers just had a meeting with Angie. I got some really good ideas from the meeting.
As I was creeping around on our Greek Life webpage, I realized I forgot to mention that Pi Chi had the highest GPA out of all of the sororities! I know I worked really hard last semester and apparently so did the rest of the sisters.
Tonight is the preference parties and I am excited. We play this awesome game called Where the wind blows and it is such a good ice breaker. It is hysterical to see all the girls running around.
Time for me to go clean off my car and trek through the snow for class. Stay warm everybody!!

Alumni

I am one of the current alumni chairs. It is our 50th anniversary this year so alumni chair has become an important position. I've been working hard making a fall newsletter for the alumni. I got in contact with one of the alumni who told me she mailed out over 300 invitations for our alumni weekend in the spring. 300!! If we could get even 100 alumni to show up I would be super excited! I went to our alumni office on campus to get labels made so once those are done, our newsletters will be mailed out to all 300 + alumni.
We are currently designing our rush shirts for spring. They have a quote on them that our president made up and they are looking super cute! They're long sleeve which I am excited about. I will not give out any more details so search for them in January!
This Sunday we're doing the Walk for Literacy and it is the Mr/Ms Oneonta pageant. That will be a busy day!

Ok, time to go do homework.

Volunteering!

Hi!
This weekend Mallory and I went to the SPCA in Cooperstown. I was super excited to play with cats and dogs. We did get to play with the cats but because it was raining out we didn't get to play with the dogs. It was depressing to see all the dogs in cages and I wanted to take them all home.
Sami, Steph and Sam helped paint the Hartwick wall for Homecoming weekend. It looks great and has been up for a while. You should go check it out before it gets painted over.
We are having a split class with 4 girls. They all seem really sweet. I am getting a little so I am super excited!!

Window painting

Hi!
Pi Chi painted a window in Hunt for Homecoming Weekend. It was a window painting contest and if we win, I believe we get a pizza party. We have some tough competition though. Tri Sig's window was really good!! I helped the girls after our meeting, but some of the other girls painted most of it.
We are doing a split class and the girls will be receiving bids soon! I am excited because I am up for a little!! I can't wait.
We are doing a Halloween carnival and it should be fun. I love Halloween!
Okie, It is 12:20 am and tomorrow is Monday.

Our new member!

Hi!
Just wanted to update on our new member Stacie. To put it simply she is awesome! She fits in with the rest of the sorority really well. She is such a sweet girl too. We are super pleased she decided to be a part of Pi Chi. We're doing a sorority potluck so that we can all hang out and get to know Stacie better. I am excited because I love food and friends. =D

We've met some new girls and they all seem really nice. One of them is an anthro major like me so I was really excited about that and babbled on to her about what classes and professors to take. We're thinking of doing a split class and I hope she decides to join Pi Chi. I hope the other girls decide to join too but I don't know them as well. I think though, that I will get to know them over time.

Ok, like always I'm swamped with work. I have to get back to doing it.

On my mind

I'm currently in the library waiting for my next class so I thought I'd update on something that has been on my mind.
I'm not sure if it's because I was a transfer last year or I simple did not pay attention but I feel as if there is an influx of unrecognized sororities this semester. It upsets me a lot because these are girls that could be pledging my sorority. I don't understand why you'd decide to join a group that isn't recognized by the school. What are the benefits? Before I transferred to Oneonta I was in contact with a girl in one of the unrecognized sororities. She was really helpful and I thought about pledging. I'm glad that I learned about all the differences because I think that there are many more pros to recognized greek life.
I have to go to class now but I think I will write about this subject more as I know many people have strong opinions on it.

Hi! It's Ilana and I'm the new blogger for Pi Chi. This is the perfect position for me because I am a computer addict! A little bit about me, I am a senior and a duel major. My majors are gerontology and anthropology. After graduating I plan to go to grad school for gerontology. I am an animal nut. I have two cats and a dog. The summer went by super quick which is ok for me because I missed all my sisters and school.

On a sad note one of our sisters moved to California. We all miss her very much. She's doing well though and as long as she is happy then we're happy for her.

Rush week just ended with only a few minor problems. We have one new member and she is super nice so I'm crossing my fingers that nothing goes wrong. Our preference party was a lot of fun and we bonded which is always nice. We played frisbee with Chi Phi and although the game didn't last long, we are planning other events with them. Next we're thinking kickball or football. Neither of which I'm any good at so I will most likely be on the side lines cheering people along.

We just had our first meeting and it looks as if a lot of exciting things will be happening this semester for Pi Chi! We're going to be doing a lot of community service. I'm hoping that we get to work with animals. This year is also our 50th anniversary!!

Well that is all for now. I will try and update regularly but being a senior means always having work.
